Magic Dragon Curriculum
Magic Dragon strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children are free to explore, learn and play. We believe in an eclectic philosophy of learning that promotes growth in all domains of development, including literacy, math, science, social/emotional, creativity and physical. Children in our care are encouraged to explore their environment, ask questions, participate in various activities, develop relationships with others and contribute to their community. We appreciate the uniqueness in each child and family and respect the differences of others. We encourage and welcome families to share traditions with our Center, in regards to their beliefs, values and experiences.
The mission at Magic Dragon is that all children will have an opportunity to be active members of a community, feel loved and cared for, have the ability to express themselves freely, develop strong relationships with others and learn developmentally appropriate skills needed to be successful in school and in life. This is accomplished through fun and engaging play in an environment set up and fostered by experienced classroom teachers.
An eclectic approach is used at Magic Dragon where various theories and philosophies come together to comprise how teachers plan activities, set up the classroom, and asses children. Our program utilizes the project approach inspired by Reggio Emilia where children's ideas, interests, and theories are respected and used to educate the whole child physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and linguistically. It is based on research of leaders in the early childhood field such as Piaget, Erikson and Vygotsky.
Magic Dragon exposes children to different domains of development. Please click on each domain to see examples of the learning that is taking place in our classrooms and on the playground.
