Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we prepare for our first home football game of the season tomorrow evening, we want to take this opportunity to remind our parents, guardians, and students of the athletic event expectations implemented last fall. The changes made last season created a safer, more enjoyable game-time experience for students and families.
Middle School, Alden, and Chandler students should never be dropped off and/or left unsupervised at athletic events. At no time, should students of any age be walking, playing football, or congregating in the grass, wooded areas, or parking lots surrounding the turf field and Steele Athletic Building. Students will not be admitted into the game with footballs, backpacks, or any athletic equipment and will be asked to return them to their car.
We understand that school events outside of school hours are a great opportunity for our young people to develop independence, but we ask that you talk to your children about these rules, guidelines, and expected behavior. If any students are found outside the fenced-in area they will be asked to go inside the fence where they will be able to support the team and remain under parent or guardian supervision.
We always have Duxbury Police officers and school administrators in attendance at our football games but as parents and guardians, you play the most important role. Duxbury Police and school administrators are present to ensure that the athletic event runs smoothly, not to provide direct supervision of young students. With your support, we can continue our strong Duxbury tradition of spirited town and school pride, while maintaining an environment where everyone is safe. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jeff Maidment, Athletic Director &
